After much deliberation and delay, the amendments to the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996
("the HGCRA") come into force on 1st October 2011. These amendments are set out at Part 8 of the Local Democracy,
Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 ("the LDEDCA").
Following on from our note from early 2009, when the proposed amendments were still not fi nalised, we have set out below
an update on the main changes that will be made to the HGCRA and how these affect construction contracts generally.
